Each key on your keyboard is represented by a different byte? A byte is a streaming group of 8 numbers of the binary system (0 & 1's only). A "0" is basically no voltage & a "1" is basically where the voltage is on (+ or -). The largest byte is (11111111) = 255. Computers use billions of on/offs-1/0's to operate.
