This organization rooted from the networking of wireless routers, like on your home computer, by using outside small dish antennas which create substantial effective radiated power on amateur frequencies. It has grown and become a functional amateur microwave network that is providing internet service to some functions of Tri-State Repeater's systems. Amateur wide area networks can also provide repeater linking, video feeds, APRS functions, and provide internet service to emergency areas. If you have IT networking knowledge, or want to learn about dishes, hubs & links and such, you may enjoy this avenue of ham radio. This club acquired their 501(3)(C) in 2014. |
